Service Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep and Testing

Group and Individual sessions.

Dependent on behavior and skills.
AGES
While we can administer the CGC test for your puppy, puppies will continue to undergo developmental and temperament changes. You may consider the AKC S.T.A.R. puppy program to prepare for the CGS. Adult dogs that pass the CGC as puppies should have the CGC test readministered. The American Kennel Club (AKC) does not set a maximum age for this test.
REQUIREMENTS
Participants must provide documentation of vaccinations.
PUPPY/DOG SKILLS
Potty training, proper socialization, kennel training, touch, sit, down, come, stay, AKC identifies ten skills for this test- appropriately greeting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, welcoming to grooming, brushing and handling of paws and ears, leash manners without the use of corrective tools, moving politely through a crowd, sit, down, stay on command, appropriate behavior around other dogs, confidence with distractions, can be left with a trusted person.
HUMAN SKILLS
Developing communication, understanding distress/stress cues and how to guide and reinforce confidence, appropriate practice, exposure without forcing behaviors, details of CGC requirements, how you can use it, understanding how these exercises build trust and strengthen your bond.
